Frequently asked questions about AI-Powered Metadata Generation in Zype CMS.
Do I need to do anything to get started with AI Metadata?
Yes — AI Metadata must be enabled in AI Tools before generation features will appear in your account. Navigate to AI Tools in the left nav, click Enable AI Transcriptions (required first), then click Enable AI Metadata. See Getting Started: Enabling AI Metadata in Zype for full setup steps.
Why does AI Metadata require AI Transcriptions (or available Subtitles)?
Transcripts are the primary source of context the AI uses to generate accurate, content-specific metadata. Without a transcript, the AI has no reliable information about what the video contains. You can still use AI Metadata on videos that already have transcripts or subtitle files from other sources.
Which metadata fields does AI generation support?
AI generation supports: Title, URL Friendly Title, Description, Short Description, Genre, Additional Keywords, and Custom Attributes. You can enable or disable generation for each field individually in AI Metadata Settings. Generation is not available for boolean toggles, date pickers, or numeric fields.
Can I control what the AI generates?
Yes, in several ways:
- Brand Description & Editorial Guidelines: set your brand voice, tone, and content context in AI Metadata Settings. This is applied to every generation.
- Reference Videos: add up to 5 example videos to guide the AI’s style.
- Field toggles: turn individual fields on or off.
- Language: set a generation language per video using the language selector on the Video Details page.
What happens to my existing metadata when I run AI generation?
For single-video generation: existing field values are overwritten by AI-generated values when you click Save Changes. You can undo immediately using the Undo button, or restore previous values using Version History.
For bulk generation: the Review Updates modal shows an Update Warning panel listing every field that already has a value and will be overwritten. Review this carefully before proceeding.
Can I undo an AI-generated metadata change?
Yes. Use the Undo button (↺) at the top of Video Details to revert the most recent AI generation run on a video. For older changes or per-field rollback, use the Version History panel (clock icon) which stores up to 10 previous values per field. See Field Version History and Reverting AI Changes.
How many previous values are stored per field?
By default, Zype stores up to 10 previous values per field. Each history entry includes the timestamp, user ID, and AI model used. This retention limit can be configured per site — contact your Account Manager to request a custom limit.
How do I generate metadata for multiple videos at once?
Select multiple videos in the Video Library, then click AI Generate in the bulk action toolbar. The Review Updates modal will summarize the scope of the operation and show any Update Warnings before you commit. See Bulk AI Metadata Generation for full instructions.
Can AI metadata be generated automatically when I upload a video?
Yes. On the Upload Video form, toggle Auto Generate Metadata to ON. After AI Transcription completes for the uploaded video, AI metadata will be generated automatically. The same option is available for MRSS feed configurations.
Is AI Metadata generation available via the API?
Yes. AI Metadata generation parameters are available in the Zype API for video creation and update endpoints. Refer to the Zype API documentation for details.
How is AI Metadata usage billed?
AI Metadata generation is a usage-based feature. Processing is measured in Tokens used during transcription and metadata generation. You can monitor your usage and costs in real time via the Usage Dashboard. AI Transcriptions are billed at $0.05 per minute after your monthly free tier of 300 minutes.
Will AI metadata always be accurate?
AI-generated metadata is probabilistic and may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable for all audiences. Zype’s AI generation tools are powered by third-party language models. You are responsible for reviewing and approving AI-generated content before publishing. See Zype’s Responsible AI Policy for details.
