Zype's AI-powered transcription feature automatically generates subtitles in both SRT and WebVTT formats when a transcription is created for your video. This allows you to easily add subtitles to your videos. However, these AI-generated subtitles are not set to active by default, giving you the flexibility to activate them whenever you want, while still allowing you to upload your own subtitle files.
Follow these steps to enable AI-generated subtitles:
Step 1: Generate a Transcription
-
Log in to your Zype account.
-
Navigate to the Content section and select Videos.
-
Choose the video for which you want to generate subtitles.
-
Make sure a transcription has been generated for the video. AI-generated subtitles are created once the transcription is processed.
Step 2: Navigate to the Subtitles Tab
-
After the transcription is complete, go to the Subtitles tab in the video settings.
-
In this section, you'll see the AI-generated subtitle files in both SRT and WebVTT formats, ready to be activated.
Step 3: Activate AI-Generated Subtitles
-
To activate the AI-generated subtitles, simply click the ON button in the Active column for the subtitle file you want to enable, from within the Subtitles tab, within the Video.
-
Once activated, the subtitles will be available for playback when users watch your video.
Step 4: Automatic Activation of AI-Generated Subtitles (Optional)
To streamline your workflow, you can enable automatic activation of AI-generated subtitles across your site. This setting is available under Site Settings > AI Enablement Settings > Subtitle Generation. Toggle the Auto Activate AI-Generate Subtitles option to ON.
When enabled, Zype will automatically set newly generated AI subtitles (SRT and WebVTT) to active status as soon as a transcription is completed—no manual activation needed. This helps ensure subtitles are immediately available for playback without extra steps.
Note: The auto activation considers existing subtitles by language and format. If there is an existing activated subtitle, we will not override it by auto-activating AI-generated subtitles that match.
Step 5: Upload Your Own Subtitle Files (Optional)
If you prefer to use your own subtitle files, you can still upload them in the Subtitles tab. This allows you to have full control over your subtitles while giving you the option to use AI-generated subtitles when needed.
Step 6: Save
Once you have activated the AI-generated subtitles (or uploaded your own), click Save to confirm the changes. The subtitles will then be included when your video is published or played.
Tips:
-
Accuracy: The AI-generated subtitles are powered by machine learning models, and while they are highly accurate, it’s always a good idea to review them for any potential errors.
-
Using Multiple Subtitle Files: You can enable both AI-generated subtitles and your manually uploaded subtitle files for the same video.
