Zype provides automated transcription support for videos across a variety of scenarios, ensuring your content is as accessible and discoverable as possible—without requiring manual intervention in most cases. Below is a breakdown of the different situations where a video may be transcribed within the Zype platform.
Scenario 1: New Video Upload or Import
When a video is newly uploaded or imported into Zype, transcription can begin immediately. During the video’s transcoding process, Zype automatically generates an MP3 progressive output, which is used by the Zype transcription service to begin transcription.
No action needed — transcription happens automatically after upload/import.
Scenario 2: Existing Video with MP3 Output
If an existing video already has an MP3 progressive output available, it can be transcribed immediately. The transcription service uses this MP3 file as its audio source.
No action needed — transcription can be initiated immediately.
Scenario 3: Existing Video Without MP3, But Original Upload File Is Available
If a video doesn’t already have an MP3 output, but still has its original uploaded source file stored in the Zype CMS, the platform will automatically create the required MP3 output for transcription.
No action needed — Zype will generate the MP3 audio file and begin transcription.
Scenario 4: Existing Video Without MP3 or Original Upload File
If a video has no MP3 output nor original upload available, the original upload will need to be re-uploaded to Zype to support transcription.
Zype will however soon support transcription using existing transcoded outputs that contain audio tracks. This feature is in development and will expand transcription coverage for existing assets even further.
Coming soon — transcription from existing MP4 or HLS outputs will be available in a future update.
