Zype provides smart ordering rules that are used to order videos appearing on your playlists. When you use one of these preset rules, it is immediately applied to the videos already included in the playlist. Videos that you may add to the playlist later on are also ordered following the rule.
Other than smart ordering rules, you also have the option to manually order videos when setting up a playlist. Manually ordering videos requires dragging and dropping the videos to the desired positions in the playlist.
To Select the Ordering Rule
To order content within a playlist, follow the steps below.
- On the Zype navigation menu, click Playlists.
- On the Playlists page, search for the playlist to which the smart ordering rule will be applied, then click into the name of the playlist.
- On the Edit Playlists page, click the Manage Playlist Videos button on the top right.
- On the Manage Videos page, the playlist’s ordering rule is set to Manual by default. To select another rule, choose one from the list.
NOTE: Your current ordering rule selection will always be displayed via the yellow dropdown buttons.
- Optionally, select a secondary ordering rule for the playlist.
NOTE: A secondary ordering rule is helpful for sorting the grouping set by the primary ordering rule. For example, if your primary ordering rule is Published Date Only (Newest First), videos will be grouped based on published date. If you apply Title (A to Z) as the optional secondary ordering rule, Zype will then order the groups of videos within each published date in alphabetical order.
- Click Save.
- On the warning message, click OK to order the videos according to your preferred ordering rules.
NOTE: Applying a new smart ordering rule will change the sorting of your videos immediately, and cannot be reversed.
Points to Remember
- New videos added to your playlist will be organized based on the ordering rule you have applied. For example, if you have selected a smart ordering rule like Title (A to Z), then new videos added to the playlist will be organized in A to Z order along with all existing videos.
- If your playlist uses Manual ordering, new videos added to the playlist will be added to the bottom of the playlist.
- Playlists can be changed from using a smart ordering rule back to manual ordering. This can be useful if you want to initially organize your videos for a playlist in a certain order, for example, Title (A to Z), then make manual ordering adjustments to a few videos afterwards.
- The table below shows the rules and how each orders your content.
