One of the most important things to be done while creating applications, whether the application is for mobile, web, or set-top, is to organize the content into easy to navigate structures.
How do I start?
As you add videos to your library, you can then begin to organize them into Playlists. There are two types of Playlists Zype supports: Category and Manual Playlists. Category Playlists dynamically add videos into the playlist based on values added to each video. Manual Playlists are just what they sound like, you manually manage the videos in the playlist. You can still add categories to the videos, they just won't be automatically added to the playlist.
To learn more, read how to Create a Manual or Category Playlist.
After you have created your playlist, add videos to that playlist. If you have created a Category Playlist, the videos within your library that match the category value set to the playlist will automatically sync to it. If you add a category to a video that matches a playlist category, that video will also sync automatically. However, if you have selected a Manual Playlist, you must add your videos to it. To learn more, read our article Adding Videos to a Playlist.
I have videos in a playlist, now what?
Once you've setup your playlists and added videos to it, the next step is to order the videos. Similarly to Playlists, you have two options to order videos: Manually or by selecting an Ordering Rule. Read Ordering Content Within a Playlist to learn more.
If you are publishing your playlists to an app, the playlist must have a thumbnail image. These are used to identify playlists when publishing them to applications. Without a playlist thumbnail, your application to distribute to an app endpoint will be rejected. Read about our Playlist Thumbnail requirements.
What about nested relationships?
Nested relationships within playlists are a powerful organizational tool that allows the display of multiple levels of playlist content. For example, you may have a show. Within that show there are multiple seasons and within those seasons there are multiple episodes. You can display your content in a way that demonstrates the organization within that playlist by using nested relationships. Learn more on how Nested Relationships work and how to set them up.
