Ad Timing Management - Apps Creator and Zype CMS

Zype system now allows you to integrate your video ad timings with your assets within the Apps Creator library. Just as with the video metadata, now you'll be able to sync the Ad Timings configuration of your videos, without having to set this up twice for the same video objects!

To manage your ad timings when using both systems together, you'll need to comply with the following requirements:

  1. Make sure your Zype account has access to the Ad Timings feature within your video objects.
  2. Access to the Apps Creator dashboard and integration between both systems.

Once you have this properly configured, you can start configuring the Ad Timings to your video assets, as properly explained in the article linked here. Each ad timing will then be synchronized with the asset within the Apps Creator Library, and it'll be shown across the objects metadata in an {hh}:{mm}:{ss} format, with the exact cue points that were configured within the Zype CMS library.

Keep in mind that this is an unidirectional synchronization, therefore, any changes you need to make along the way to the cue point of your videos, will need to be done directly through the Zype CMS library, and then, this will be automatically updated within Apps Creator.

Once your ad timings are added to the Apps Creator assets, and the Ad Tags are properly configured as detailed in this article, you’ll need to make sure that each asset has the option of Show Ads properly enabled, in order for the endpoints to trigger the cue point ad request during playback:

And that’s it! Now your assets will display the ads within the cue point you have previously configured on the Zype CMS library.

This option will also become at handy, when attempting to modify, update or change your ad timings in a bulk way, since now you can use the Zype API Endpoints to make modifications to the ad timings of your assets, and it’ll accelerate the process if you are currently using a custom implementation of our API to manage your content.

But now, how can you edit the ad timings within the Apps Creator dashboard?

Something to keep in mind, is that Zype Source videos across Apps Creator will not allow you the option to edit ad timings within the dashboard, but since there are scenarios where you may need to configure a specific set of cue points for videos based on regionalization or language, for example, Apps Creator allows you the option to duplicate the Zype Source video and generate an asset that will only be Apps Creator sourced, and will not be in synch with the asset on your Zype CMS library:

To do so, you’ll need to navigate to the video detail within Apps Creator, and click on the Duplicate option:

This will generate a second asset with the title in a format “Copy {Asset Name}”:

Once this asset is created, you can click on it to edit the metadata, select the Region, Language, and add the specific cue-points for that video object:

Keep in mind that these cue-points are in an SCTE-35 marker format, therefore you’ll need to use a format of {hh}:{mm}:{ss}, separated by a comma within each ad timing, and that this specific ad timing configuration and new asset generation, will not synchronize with the Zype CMS library as mentioned above, therefore, this set of configuration and metadata will only be available across your Apps Creator library.

And there you go! Now, you can have a specific set of ad timings configured for each region and/or app language you currently use to distribute your content, and comply with any of the requirements you may have when it comes to displaying or distributing ads within your content.
