Managing Self-Hosted Live Events in Zype CMS for Use In Apps Creator

Overview

You can now designate Self-Hosted videos as live events in the Zype CMS using a metadata flag called “Live Event”

This feature brings parity between Self-Hosted and Zype Live workflows, ensuring accurate live event cataloging and scheduling in Apps Creator apps.

Previously in Apps Creator, live events were primarily managed through Zype Live. Now, Self-Hosted videos can also be treated as live events, complete with start and end times, making it easier to control when content appears in the app and how it's displayed to your viewers.

This feature:

  • Enables seamless cataloging of live Self-Hosted content as events in Apps Creator

  • Improves scheduling accuracy using start and end times

  • Reduces manual setup

  • Enhances the end-user experience by displaying timely live indicators

How It Works

Enable the Live Event flag on your video in the CMS

  • A new metadata flag labeled “Live Event” is available in the CMS for Self-Hosted videos.

  • It appears above the existing "On-Air" flag on the video details page.

  • When selected, the video is marked as a live event and is treated as such in Apps Creator.

Setting On-Air and Off-Air Times

  • Optional fields for On-Air At and Off-Air At are now available for Self-Hosted videos.

  • These map directly to the Availability settings in Apps Creator’s event management system if used

  • For live events, these will determine when the event starts and ends in Apps Creator

Content Visibility and On-Air Behavior

  • Existing Enable At / Disable At fields continue to control when the content is visible in your app.

  • The On-Air flag still determines when the “LIVE” label appears in carousels and endpoints.
