Generating Shareable HLS Manifest Links for Videos

Overview

Zype now supports generating shareable HLS manifest links, allowing content owners to easily generate and distribute simplified playback URLs for individual videos. This feature is ideal for internal reviews, QA testing, and controlled partner sharing—without requiring embeds or viewer authentication.

What is a Shareable Manifest Link?

A shareable manifest link is a simplified HLS playback URL that can be generated per video via the Zype CMS or API. When the "Shareable" option is enabled, the system produces a direct manifest URL (e.g., /share/video/:video_id?key=...) that can be accessed externally.

This link is secure and controlled—intended for temporary or preview-based sharing without compromising your full content protection workflows.

• Internal QA and Review: Share playback-ready links with team members for testing or approval.

• Partner Integrations: Quickly provide secure access to content for external stakeholders or proof-of-concept demos.

• Frictionless Previewing: Bypass embed or authentication requirements while maintaining access control.

NOTE: Shareable links are meant for temporary or controlled access and should not be used for public distribution.

Enabling Shareable Manifest Links in the CMS

1. Navigate to your Library in the Zype CMS.

2. Click on a video to open the Details tab.

3. Locate and enable the Shareable toggle to generate a shareable manifest link for the video.

Once enabled, a manifest URL will be displayed that you can copy and share externally.
