Zype provides the option for you to “paywall” content behind a redemption code. This requires consumers to enter a redemption code in order to unlock videos.
You can provide consumers with codes to redeem for access to content, or your consumers can purchase content using the standard paywall options, or a combination of the two.
Generating or Uploading Redemption Codes
Before you can begin using redemption codes to lock or unlock video content, you'll want to review our documentation on how you can generate codes yourself in the Zype Admin, or upload a list of existing codes via CSV.
Once you have your valid redemption codes created and assigned to the correct video content, the 'Require Redemption Code' paywall can be unlocked when consumers enter these codes.
Configuring Videos to Require Redemption Codes
Step 1 - Turn on 'Require Redemption Code' for a video in your library
Select the desired video in your Zype Library and navigate to the Monetization tab. You'll notice a 'Require Redemption Code' flag that can be turned on.
Step 2 - Add your video embed code to a page on your website
Once 'Require Redemption Code' is turned on, you can now add your embed code to a page on your website. You'll notice that the embed code displays a 'Redeem Code' option on the paywall for any unauthenticated consumer.
Multiple Monetizations with Redemption Code Paywalls
You can also add other paywall options to your video, for example requiring a subscription or a purchase for access to content. In this case, you'll want to make sure your video is configured properly.
Step 1 - Turn on your desired monetization paywalls for a video in your library
Go to the video settings page and select the Monetization tab. Turn the flag for your desired monetization paywall on, as well as the 'Require Redemption Code' flag. In this image, Purchase and Redemption Code paywalls are both on:
Step 2 - Add your video embed code to a page on your website
Once your desired paywalls and the 'Require Redemption Code' paywall is turned on, you can now add your embed code to a page on your website. You'll notice that the embed code displays the options to 'Subscribe', 'Purchase' or 'Redeem Code' on the paywall for any unauthenticated consumer.
Redeeming a Code Flow
Step 1 - Sign in as a consumer
Once consumers reach the redemption code paywall and select 'Redeem Code', they can unlock access to content by entering in their valid code. If the consumer has not yet created an account with you, they will be prompted to sign up.
Step 2 - Enter redemption code
The consumer will then enter a valid redemption code.
If the code entered is invalid, a message will appear to indicate that this code was not found and provide the consumer with the option to enter in a different code.
If the code entered is valid but meant to unlock a different video, a message will appear to indicate that this code is invalid for this video and provide the consumer with the option to enter in a different code.
Step 3 - View success message and access content
Once a valid code has been entered, the consumer will see the success message with the option to 'Access your content'.
Once a consumer selects 'Access Your Content', the video player opens and playback is initiated.
Congratulations! Once you've added the embed code to your site, you'll now be able to require redemption codes for access to your videos.
