Overview
Starting October 1st, 2024, Zype customers can customize how long their uploaded pre-processed video content is retained in storage. With this update, users can choose from several flexible retention policies to better manage their storage needs. Every uploaded video is initially stored for 72 hours free of charge. After that, storage usage is billable.
Important Dates:
- By default, all customers are set to the “Forever” policy.
- You must review and select your preferred storage policy by November 1st, 2024, to avoid unexpected storage charges.
Available Storage Policies
Zype offers the following retention policies for video uploads:
- Forever: Videos are stored indefinitely.
- 90 Days: Videos are automatically deleted after 90 days.
- 72 Hours: Videos are automatically deleted after 72 hours.
Uploads stored for less than 72 hours are non-billable. After the 72-hour period, storage usage is billed accordingly. The system automatically handles the retention and deletion of uploads based on the policy selected.
Prerequisites
- Account Owner Role: Only users with the Account Owner role can modify storage retention policies.
- Access to Storage Management: Ensure you have access to the Zype Admin dashboard.
Step-by-Step Guide to Configuring Your Storage Policy
1. Log Into Zype Admin
Start by logging into your Zype Admin account with your credentials.
2. Navigate to Storage Management
From the main dashboard, click on the Gear Menu (⚙️) located in the top-right corner, and select Storage Management.
3. Review Your Current Storage Usage
Under the Storage Management tab, you'll find your current usage details for both uploaded video storage and video output storage. This will help you understand your current storage needs.
4. Select a Retention Policy
From the available options, select one of the following retention policies for your video uploads:
- Forever
- 90 Days
- 72 Hours
5. Confirm Your Selection
After selecting your preferred retention policy, click Confirm to apply the changes.
Note: Please allow up to 72 hours for policy changes to take effect and for your storage usage statistics to reflect the new policy.
What Happens Next?
Your selected retention policy will determine how long your uploaded videos are stored before being automatically deleted. This helps reduce storage costs and eliminates the need for manual deletions.
Once a video is deleted based on your selected policy, it will no longer be accessible in Zype Admin.
