Zype’s Text Replacement feature gives you full control over how key terms, phrases, and stylistic choices appear in your AI-generated translations and subtitle files. This is especially useful when localizing content into multiple languages, ensuring brand consistency, and correcting recurring translation quirks.
What Are Text Replacements?
Text Replacements allow you to define substitution rules that are automatically applied to AI-translated transcriptions and subtitle files. These rules are applied after the initial AI translation is completed but before subtitles are saved or displayed.
For example:
If your translated French subtitles render “Zype Platform” as “Plateforme Zy pe,” you can standardize it to “Plateforme Zype.”
If you want to enforce formal language (e.g., changing “tu” to “vous” in French), you can automate this using replacements.
If regional dialect preferences matter (e.g., “carro” to “coche” in Spanish), you can customize the translation accordingly.
How to Add a Text Replacement
Go to your Zype Site Settings
Click the AI Enablement Settings tab
Scroll to the Text Replacements section under Translations
Click + New Replacement
-
Enter:
Original: The word or phrase to replace (in the target translation language)
Replacement: Your preferred version
Language: The language this rule applies to
Match Case: Toggle ON if the rule should be case-sensitive
Click Save Changes
Manage Replacements from the Transcriptions Tab
You can also access your Text Replacements directly from the Transcriptions tab of any video.
Open the Edit Video page for a specific video
Click the Transcriptions tab
In the top-right, click Manage Replacements
This will take you to your site-wide AI settings so you can review or update translation rules
Examples
| Original | Replacement | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Zy pe | Zype | Brand name fix in French |
| tu | vous | Formalize tone in French subtitles |
| carro | coche | Regional language preference (Spanish) |
| danke schön | vielen Dank | Standardize tone in German |
| 14h | 2:00 PM | Localize time formatting (French→EN) |
Best Practices
Use language-specific rules for better control
Apply only where needed—broad rules can lead to unintended substitutions
Regularly review and refine replacements based on translated subtitle reviews
Avoid using long phrases—keep replacements short and specific
Where This Applies
Text Replacements are applied to:
AI-translated transcriptions (multilingual versions)
AI-generated SRT and WebVTT subtitle files in those translated languages
They are not retroactively applied to existing subtitle files but will apply to all future translations after the rules are saved.
