August 2024 Release Notes

This month's release notes include:

Zype Streaming Platform

NEW

• Allow customer admins to create multiple different setting profiles for transcoding videos
• Ability to enable authentication for MRSS content ingestion in Zype CMS by adding an authentication header to each request
• Added support for Google Media CDN for: video-on-demand enabled video, mezzanine file uploads, DRM enabled videos, thumbnails, subtitles, images, uploads
• Added support for THEOplayer 7.8.0
• In addition to the new password and password confirmation, the current user password is now required to change passwords
• Restored ability to reprocess transcodes via the Zype admin dashboard
• Updated the default image shown when no video is selected on the edit video "preview" tab
• Added support for alt text on the player thumbnail when uploading a custom thumbnail for a video

API

• Added new endpoint to Video API to playback URL of a request video
• Added plan_ids to playlist API responses

INTEGRATIONS

• Added additional short description metadata to Amagi MRSS feeds

FIXED

• Fixed issue with activation and deactivation of Vimeo Pro videos when the status is changed on Vimeo Pro
• Fixed an issue where thumbnails were not being updated properly when updated on Vimeo Pro
• Fixed an issue where using date filters where the time component of the query parameter was not being considered
• Fixed a race condition that allowed for Apps Creator to create duplicate subscription records in the Zype CMS
• Naming for self hosted videos has been standardized across the Zype platform, including URL paths.

Zype Playout

NEW

• Programmatic gap-detection for playout channel schedules
• Ability to apply custom transcode profiles to non-HLS outputs
• The Roku Channel EPG can now be generated from a schedule in Playout

• Reuse Rules extend Dynamic Blocks functionality by allowing content to repeat or follow defined rules once a programmed sequence ends

• Allows Playout Users to disable the Ad Rules on unique Dynamic Block configurations
• Allow customers to configure their own slack channels to receive Playout notifications
• On Calendar View, the asset panel is hidden until an asset has been selected
• Added a "close" button to the inspector panel
• Added Parental Rating and Parental Rating Source Type for live assets
• Support for Genres and Parental Rating source Type On Dynamic Blocks
• Added confirmation pop-up when deleting a dynamic block
• Added ability to undo all timeline programmed actions from Change History menu
• Added support for "hybrid" mode EPG presentation that combines the output of "all" and "slim-mode", where the output of the EPG will contain individual video items and playlists and blocks
• Added ability to revert too the very first timeline programmed action from Change History menu, allowing user to restore a clean timeline

API UPDATE

• The time to apply draft schedule changes to a live channel has been reduced to 20 seconds
• Add thumbnail URL field to live assets
• Add support for positioning graphics on GFX timeline for Draft Blocks
• Added asset category values to Inspector panel UI

FIXED

• Fixed an issue when attempting to create a program block inside of another program block, the UX became unresponsive
• Added support for ability to change / truncate the end time of a scheduled item already live (in broadcast)
• Fixed an issue on the Timeline and Calendar view when moving multiple scheduled items resulted in only some of the items moving
• Fixed a UX bug that intermittently prevented users from adding items to the timeline from the assets panel

Zype Apps Creator

NEW

• Support for using "AND" operation in Search playlists
• Ability to prevent adding duplicate videos inside the same Playlist
• New full screen player for Audio streams with ability to show custom thumbnail and maintain linear audio playback and controls visibility even when screen is locked
• Support for "Subscribe to Podcast" functionality for iOS and Android apps
• Support for latest version of Android (Android 14) for mobile and CTV app deployment

DEPRECATED

• Removal of AppFigures for universal app analytics

FIXED

• Fixes for Ads that weren't playing on auto-played content found through Search
• Fixes for Interstitial screen being shown despite being toggled off for specific case where Streaming on Entry behavior is enabled
• Improved App load timing on Roku

INTEGRATIONS

• Integration with Securiti for third-party data security, privacy, governance, and compliance
• Integration with Nice People At Work (NPAW) for detailed video analytics
