Zype allows you to add subtitles to your videos. Subtitles are text files that will display within a streaming video, but live outside of the video file.

Once a subtitle is added to a video, your consumers have the option to display subtitles when they play the video on the web.

Subtitles are uploaded on a per-video basis. Videos shown on the web can have subtitles in .vtt format in Zype's player.

Important: The Zype web player supports ONLY .vtt files. We recommend .vtt file format across all of Zype's app endpoints.

NOTE: There are various software programs available for creating subtitles. You can use any tool you want, so long as it can generate subtitles in .vtt format. At Zype, we use Aegisub to create subtitles in .vtt format. Aegisub is free software that allows entering captions alongside a playing video, then converts the captions to .vtt files.
