Categories are labels you create and assign to videos and playlists. Common categories for video content might include Genre, Type, Season, and Series, among others.

When creating a category you need to create values, or tags, under the category. For example, for a Genre category, values may include Action, Comedy, Drama, and Nonfiction, among others.

If you have yet to organize your video content into playlists, you can configure playlists to automatically pull in video content based on categories you've created. See the "Creating a Category Playlist" section in our article HERE.

To Create a New Category

1. On the Zype navigation menu, click Categories.

2. On the Categories page, click into the Add Categories button.

3. On the Create New Category page, enter a unique title, and the values or tags you want to add to the category.

• Add categories by typing into the box and hitting enter when done.
• After enter is hit, the next category can be typed

NOTE: If you do not enter a URL-friendly title (a search engine friendly title that can be used to query for categories using the Category API), Zype will generate one for you based on the category title after you save the record.

5. Click Save Changes.

To Edit a Category

1. On the Zype navigation menu, click Categories.

2. On the Categories page, search for the category to be edited, then click the gear icon to the right. Clicking into the name of the category also works.

3. On the Edit Category page, edit the category, then click Save Changes.

To Delete a Category

1. On the Zype navigation menu, click Categories.

2. On the Categories page, search for the category to be deleted, then click the Delete button to the right.

3. Click OK on the confirmation message to delete the category.

To Pin a Category

Pinning a category makes it more easily accessible by allowing the user to pin categories to appear at the top of Category selection menus for all videos and playlists in a property. Pinning Categories makes it easier to find categories that are frequently used for curating videos, playlists, and ad tags.

STEPS:

1. Navigate to the Categories page
2. Click into the gear icon of the Category that you want to edit to arrive at the "Edit Category" page for that category. Clicking into the name of the category also works.
3. For "Values" that you want to pin, click into the pin symbol. When it turns black, you've successfully pinned the category. 
4. Click on "Save Changes" when completed

Pinned categories can appear in the following areas:

• "Pinned Categories" panel of the Categories Page
• "Pinned Categories" panel of the Browse Categories component on the edit page of a video
• "Pinned Categories" panel of the Browse Categories component on the edit page of a playlist
• "Pinned Categories" panel of the Browse Categories component on the Add Ad Tag Page
• "Pinned Categories" panel of the Browse Categories component on the edit page of an Ad Tag
