My consumer can't play a video. What can I do?

If a viewer can't play a video there are a few things to check out

  • Is the video "active" in the library
  • Does the video play properly in the library
  • Is there a "player rule" for the device the viewer is watching on

Is the video "active" in the library?

To check if a video is active start by going to the library and searching for the video. If the video isn't active click the video and in the "Details" tab toggle "Active" to "On" and save.

Does the video play properly in the library?

Start by going to the library and searching for the video. Then click the play button to the right of the video.

Is there a "player rule" for the device the viewer is watching on?

Start by going to "Player Rules", in the "Devices" column look for the device the viewer is watching on. Then use the "Name" column to make sure the correct player is available for this device.

For example, if a viewer can't watch a live stream on their desktop and the video is using the Zype Live player, You would check to see which player rules apply to "desktop."

If there isn't a player rule for the Zype live player on a desktop then you'll be able to create one using the "New Player Rule" button.
