Zype HLS Specification

HLS stands for HTTP Live Streaming. In short, HLS is a media streaming protocol for delivering visual and audio media to viewers over the internet.

Zype uses HLS for downstream stream delivery to all our supported endpoint players.  (eg; iOS, Android, HTML5 web players , Roku, AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, AndroidTV, and RSS feed based syndication endpoints)

VOD

Zype supports HLS v3 for all VOD master and variant manifests.

Supported Features:

  • All previous version features
  • Floating-point EXTINF duration values

Live 

Zype supports HLS v4 for all Live master and variant manifests.

Supported Features:

  • All previous version features
  • EXT-X-BYTERANGEEXT-X-I-FRAME-STREAM-INF, EXT-X-I-FRAMES-ONLYEXT-X-MEDIA, the AUDIO and VIDEO attributes of the EXT-X-STREAM-INF tag

Playout
