How to add Google Login to your apps

Google login allow your app users to create an account within the app using their Google Account Credentials.


Google login utilise Google's OAuth 2.0 Integration to enable users to login with their Google Credentials.

 

Pre-requisites:

Google Cloud Platform Account - You will need to create a Google Cloud Platform account. You should already have one account created if you have already setup Firebase for your apps.

 

Step 1: Login to your Google Cloud Platform Account here.

Step 2: Select or Create Project. If you already have Firebase linked to your apps, select the same project from the drop down menu. Or create a new project.

Step 3: After selecting the appropriate project click on API & Services.

Step 4: From the left menu tab, select Credentials.

Step 5: Consent Screen: If you are using an old Google Cloud Platform Account, you may already have a consent screen setup. In case you do not have a consent screen setup, click on Configure Consent Screen.

Step 6: Consent Screen: Choose "External" in the setup form and click on Create.

Step 7: Fill in the required information on the form and click on "Save & Continue". This information will be shown on your consent screen, therefore, please use your organisations privacy policy, terms of service and Logo.

Once you have the Consent Screen setup, it will look like this. Click on "Publish App" to make it ready for use.

Step 8: Now go to Credentials again and click on "Create Credentials".

Step 9: Select "OAuth Client ID" from the drop down menu.

Step 10: Select "iOS" form the Application Type drop down menu.

Step 11: Add the required information in the form and click on "Create". If you do not have the App ID, Team ID or Bundle ID for your iOS app, please contact appsupport@zype.com.

Step 12: Once the OAuth credentials are created, you will be shown your OAuth Client ID. Copy and Save this as we will add this to Apps Creator dashboard in the later steps.

Step 13: Click on Create Credentials again and select "OAuth Client ID". In the "Application Type" dropdown select Android.

Step 14: Fill in all the required information and click on "Create". If you do not have the Package ID, or SHA1 Fingerprint for your Android app, please contact appsupport@zype.com. Please note that the same SHA1 Fingerprint should also be added to your Firebase Android app.

Step 15: Once the OAuth credentials are created, you will be shown your OAuth Client ID. Copy and Save this as we will add this to Apps Creator dashboard in the later steps.

Step 16: Open Apps Creator Dashboard and navigate to Manage >> Social Integrations. Click on the "+" Icon and select Google form the list.

Step 17: Add the copied OAuth client IDs for iOS and Android apps from Google Cloud Platform to the respective textboxes and click on "Save".

Congratulations, you have successfully added Google Social Login to your iOS and Android apps. Please note that new app builds will be needed for this change to take effect. Please reach out to submissions@mazsystems.com after competing this setup to request app updates.
