If you're reading this article, you should have already completed signing up for your own Zapier account and unlocking your Zapier webhook key in Zype. Please visit this article if you haven't yet completed those steps.
How to find the Zype app in Zapier's marketplace
Step 1 - Please visit this link to find Zype's app in Zapier.
You'll need to click on the 'Accept Invite & Build a Zap' button to make Zype available for Zap creations.
Step 2 - Click on the 'Make a Zap' button in the upper right corner of your screen to start creating your first zap with Zype.
Step 3 - Give your Zap a name and search for 'zype' in the Choose a Trigger App toolbar.
Step 4 - Select the type of data trigger from Zype you'd like to create a Zap with.
For this example we've selected "New Consumer Created" which will set off a trigger in Zapier each time a new consumer is added to your Zype account. Click the 'Save + Continue' button at the bottom right corner of the page.
Step 5 - Connect your Zype account for authentication.
If this is your first time creating a Zap using your Zype account, you will need to connect your Zype account using your Zapier webhook key. Click on the 'Connect an Account' button which will open a new pop up window that asks you for your Webhook Key.
Please enter the Zapier webhook key provided in your Integrations page.
Step 6 - If you've authenticated properly, you will see your Zype account as a data source in the Zap creation flow.
We suggest updating the name of your Zype account so you can easily recognize it and then click 'Save + Continue' to proceed.
Step 7 - Zapier requires you to test the data from your Zype account in order to proceed. Please click on the 'Fetch & Continue' button to perform a test.
If the test is successful you will see a 'Test Successful!' confirmation on the following screen. If you don't have at least 1 consumer created in your Zype account, this test will fail. You can always create a sample user in Zype if you need some test data.
At this point, you should have your Zype account fully set up to send data to Zapier for new triggers. Click on 'Test Trigger' to now connect an app to your Zype account.
Step 8 - Now you'll need to select an app to connect your Zype data to.
Data from new consumers signing up (or being created in your Zype admin) will be sent to this selected app. You can search for apps using the drop-down menu. In this example, we'll be connecting to MailChimp, a popular email marketing tool.
Step 9 - Select the type of action you'd like to automate in Mailchimp.
In this example, the action I'm choosing is simply adding new consumers to one of my existing mailing lists.
Step 10 - Just like with Zype, you'll need to authenticate to your MailChimp account.
Once you confirm you're connecting to the correct MailChimp account, please click "Save + Continue' to proceed.
Step 11 - Now you must configure how the data from Zype will populate into your MailChimp account.
First, I'll choose which existing email marketing list I want to add new consumers to from my MailChimp account. The list I chose is "New Consumer Signups" which is a list I had already created prior to creating this Zap.
Next, I'll configure which data to populate from my Zype consumer to go into my MailChimp list. Since MailChimp is looking for a Subscriber Email address, I'll choose the consumer's email address from my Zype data.
Hit 'Continue' once you've configured all the data fields you want to populate into your MailChimp list.
Step 12 - Review the consumer data details and send a test to MailChimp.
You'll be presented with a preview of the consumer data that will populate into your MailChimp email marketing list. If everything looks good click on the 'Send Test to Mailchimp' button.
If everything looks good, you'll get a confirmation that a Test subscriber was sent to MailChimp.
You can check your MailChimp list to confirm the test user was properly added to your list.
Step 13 - Turn on your Zap to save it to your Zapier account
That's it! You've created your first Zap in Zapier integrated with your Zype account. If you've followed the steps outlined above, every time a new consumer is created in your Zype account you should see them being added to your MailChimp email marketing list.
Awesome, what do I do next?
That's up to you! You can create as many custom integrations as you'd like connecting data from your Zype account with all the favorite workflow apps you use. Here are a couple of other potential use cases to consider:
1. Add new consumers to a mailing list in my email marketing software every time a consumer is created/added to my Zype account (covered above)
2. Add new subscription customers to a different mailing list in my email marketing software every time a consumer purchases a subscription plan.
3. Send a custom "Thank you for purchasing" email to customers every time they purchase a subscription plan using your Gmail account.
4. Send a custom "Sorry to see you go" email to customers if they cancel their subscription using your Gmail account.
5. Add consumers to a "win back" email marketing list and campaign in your favorite email marketing software if they cancel their subscription.
6. Send a channel-wide slack notification whenever a new consumer purchases a subscription plan so you and your team are aware of your new revenue.
The possibilities are endless! Please send us a note if you end up creating awesome new Zaps that you'd like to share with Zype!
