The Sections page shows all of the sections that exist within the currently-selected Brand:
Purpose of Sections
Sections are used to create a hierarchy of Collections (including Playlists) and Content. Each section also contains additional settings to control its design, advertising options, etc. This sample shows the web app interface that would be presented for the section configuration shown above:
Like other objects in the content hierarchy, sections have metadata that indicates the title, subtitle, description, layout, and other settings that control how the section is presented within applications. These metadata records can be configured for use in specific regions only, or for specific languages only. See the Localization documentation for more information.
View Metadata for a Section
You can view the metadata for a section by tapping on the "Edit" action (the pencil), which will show the "Metadata" dialog containing the list of metadata records that are attached to the selected section.
Create/Edit Metadata for a Section
New records can be added to this list by tapping the "+" button, or by cloning an existing record using the "Duplicate" action. Records can be edited by tapping on their row, which will show the metadata edit form.
The contents of this form varies depending upon the specific type of object being edited. Fields common to all objects include Title, Subtitle, Description, and a list of landscape, portrait, and square thumbnails. Many objects also support layout configuration, which is divided between TV Design (which includes Web apps) and Mobile Design.
Settings to enable advertising when showing content within the section and to enable Banners (shown at the top of some layouts) are also provided.
The ability to create child sections is not currently available, but will be added in a future release. Many app configurations that would use this feature can be achieved by using a Collection instead.
Collections, Playlists, and Content as Sections
Sections can also be created directly from a Collection, a Playlist, or a single Content object. To add one of these object types as a section, use the "+" button on the Sections page, and choose the type that you wish to add:
When using a collection or playlist as a section, the same layout and styling options that are available for a normal section are supported. For individual content objects used as section, the content's details screen will be shown when the section is visited.
