Previewing Your Channel on an Amazon Device (Java based)

This documentation will walk you through how to preview your Amazon Fire TV (Java based) app before submitting to the marketplace. You will first need to turn ON ADB debugging and sideload your app to an Amazon device in order to preview. 

Option 1: ADB Debugging

Prerequisites 

Step 1: Turn on ADB debugging on your Amazon device

From your Amazon device, navigate to Settings > Device > Developer options

ADB debugging should be switched ON.

Step 2: Locate your Amazon IP address

From your Amazon device, navigate to Settings > Device > About > Network

Please make sure you write your device IP address down or save it for later. It will need to be referenced in the next step.

Step 3: Connect your computer to your Amazon device

Open the Terminal app on your Mac (or a command line app if you’re using a PC) and type “adb kill-server” and hit enter.

Type adb start-server and hit enter

Type adb connect [insert Amazon device IP address here]:5555

Type adb install and drag in your APK and hit enter

You’ve successfully loaded the app to your device!

Step 4: Preview your application on your Amazon device

To preview your app on your Amazon device, navigate to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications

You should see your app listed here. Click on your app icon to launch the app and begin testing.
